The most affordable helicopter ride in your life

Have you ever dreamed about flying in a helicopter? I have and my dream came true 6 years ago. If you visit Faroe Islands don’t miss this chance to make your wish fulfilled. Apart from tranport to and from Faroe Islands, Atlantic Airways offer helicopter rides between the islands. Helicopters serve mainly to inhabitants to get from one island to another therefore the tickets are very cheap. Of course there is a catch to it: you can book only one way ticket on the departure date, no roundtrips on the same day. That’s no problem if you know how to plan your journey 😀

Kirkjubøur – The easiest day trip from Tórshavn

The easiest day trip from Tórshavn has to be the village of Kirkjubøur. One of the free public buses from Tórshavn goes there. More info about free buses here. The journey takes up to 20 minutes and you can explore this beautiful historical village and enjoy the views over neighbouring islands. Just watch out for the strong wind. It was super windy when I was there but still worth it.

One day trip to Linlithgow from Edinburgh

Me and my friends wanted to go on a day trip from Edinburgh. Apart from Glasgow we also chose Linlithgow. Linlithgow is a town some 30 kms west of Edinburgh so it’s very quick to get there by train. The main attraction is the Linlithgow Palace, once a home of the noble Stuarts and the birthplace of Mary, Queen of Scots, now ruined.

Unexpected trip to El Escorial

I arrived to Madrid at night and my couchsurfer was so kind to pick me up at the airport. He lived in Las Rozas which is around 20 km away from Madrid. If he hadn’t picked me up I don’t know how else would I have gotten there at night 😀 I still remember how sick I felt when I was trying to fall asleep. I had a cold and hoped it would not completely ruin my Madrid trip. It certainly didn’t ruin my first day in Madrid. My host took me to visit El Escorial. I was pleasantly surprised as I had always wanted to visit this monumental palace.

Day trip from Porto to Braga

I love to come up with creative titles for my posts but this time I couldn’t think of anything better 😀 When I’m visiting a new country I always want to visit as many places as possible. I was deciding between two historic towns Braga and Guimarães as a day trip from Porto. I chose Braga mostly because of Bom Jesus do Monte sanctuary which had always fascinated me. I don’t know where my fascination for monumental religious buildings comes from 😀

Day trip to the east of Madeira

As I mentioned in my previous post I had booked a tour with Lido Tours to the east of the island for my second day in Madeira. The highlight of the trip was village Santana and Pico Arieiro (third highest peak on the island). I don’t remember the name of the first stop but here are some pictures 😀

Day trip to Sintra, Cabo Da Roca and Cascais

When I was planning my holiday in Portugal I knew I would take a day off from Lisbon and go to Sintra. Sintra is best known for its numerous palaces and castles. It’s been on my list bucket list for quite some time, ever since I saw a picture of the Initiatic well in Quinta da Regaleira many years ago. I decided to combine it with Cabo da Roca (westernmost point of continental Europe) and Cascais as a full day trip.

How I traveled three hours just to see the Atlantic ocean

I was in Morocco just for two days so I decided to stay one day in Marrakesh and take a trip to some other place the following day.  Moroccan travel agencies offer a great variety of one day trips from Marrakesh. I chose a trip to Essaouira. Essaouira, formerly known as Mogador, is an old town on the Atlantic coast. Atlantic ocean was the main reason why I had chosen to go there. Oceans/seas are a majestic force of nature and yet they are still capable to calm me down. I could spend hours watching them.

The journey to Essaouira took roughly three hours. I was enjoying the views from the bus, especially over the Atlas mountains, so it didn’t seem to be a long journey at all. I was secretly hoping to see the famous tree goats of Morocco. And I indeed saw them! Another dream crossed off my list. If anyone is wondering what the goats are doing on those trees, they are eating the fruits of argan trees 🙂

Once upon a time in Fairytale land

In my previous post I was talking about my fashion week trip to Milan. I had arrived to Milan two days before the fashion week started in order to visit the area. I had a whole day just for travelling so I decided to go to Switzerland. Mostly because it’s always been on my “to visit list”, bus tickets were just 8€ one way and I set a goal to visit 5 new countries in 2016 (which I managed btw). I chose Lugano as my destination and took the Flixbus to get there. The journey there was awesome, the bus had wifi on board and I was listening to Arcade Fire and Franz Ferdinand on their radio app or whatever it was. Shortly after I arrived to Lugano I got a very strangely written message from Flixbus telling me I had been withdrawn from my drive due to operational delay. Firstly I was rather angry but then I decided not to spoil my trip so I took a walk along the river to the city centre. When I arrived to the banks of Lake Lugano this beautiful view surprised me. It was quite foggy and it looked like straight out of some magical fairy tale.
